How Pathway Works

Pathway Students

What it is

BYU-Idaho and the Institutes of Religion have received permission from the Church Board of Education to bring interactive online courses to select Institute buildings. Our goal is to provide a pathway to educational opportunities for students regardless of where they live or where they may ultimately receive their degree.

How it works

Watch the video below for an overview of the Pathway program or view the Pathway Academic Chart. Experiencing video woes? Try the flash version.

Use the tool below to explore the steps of the Pathway program.

Who it's for

The Pathway Program is available to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who:

  • Are 18 to 30 years old (30+ program in selected locations).
  • Have daily access to a computer with high-speed internet.
  • Are proficient in listening, reading, writing and speaking English*
  • Strive to live by BYU-Idaho's Honor Code.
  • Are willing to attend a weekly gathering.
  • Are married or single.

*Language proficiency assessment may be required for non-native English speakers.

Can I go to school on the Rexburg Campus?

After successfully completing Academic Start students may choose to apply as a regular campus student instead of continuing as an online student. It is important to note, however, that if students attend on campus they must pay the campus tuition rate, instead of the Pathway rate. International students must have a current visa, unless they arrived in the U.S. with their parents before the age of eighteen.
