Idaho Falls Youth Symphony

REXBURG-The Idaho Falls Youth Symphony will perform "Night at the Gallery" featuring Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" on Wednesday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg.

Youth concerto winners will also be featured on the program. Cellist Sophie Lyman of Rexburg will perform Cello Concerto by Edward Elgar. Pianist Andrew Crumpley of Idaho Falls will perform Piano Concert No. 3 by Dmitri Kablevsky. French horn player Drew Stanley of Idaho Falls will perform Horn Concerto No. 1 by Franz Strauss.  

Music director of the orchestra is Rexburg resident Kendell Nielsen, who teaches music at South Fremont High School in St. Anthony. Assistant conductor is Ariel Loveland.  

The students come from across eastern Idaho, from as far away as Pocatello to the south and Ashton to the north. There are 10 or 12 players from the Rexburg area. The students rehearse each Thursday night at Idaho Falls High School.  

Tickets for the Center Stage concert are $10 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students. Tickets can be purchased at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office, by calling 496-3170 or online at tickets.byui.edu.
