Mission Statement: To help educate students and faculty about sustainable living specific to the food services industry. From recycling and composting, to water waste and electrical use-we are working to improve Food Services sustainability.
Current Initiatives: The Green Team has 4 Main Initiatives for the next two semesters
- Localize food purchases to local growers- decreases the carbon footprint of travel, and supports local economy.
- Implement Re-usable containers at The Crossroads to reduce trash, and increase customer value.
- Use compost more effectively. University Food Services currently uses a composting machine that reduces water waste in the food, and we are working on partnering with the BYU-Idaho Ag Center to have the compost used.
- Increase student awareness and participation in school recycling system.
